Mount Lavinia Hotel

The room was clean and tidy, but we did not think the cleaning of the doors, shower cubicle was inadequate and definitely needs to be addressed. The white painted doors showed stain marks and the shower cubicle glass/floor edges were stained black The breakfast was exceptional as we expected as we have stayed in the hotel in the past. The staff were very helpful always.

This place is superb value for money and I don't know how they can make money with such great value for money considering the facilities and services provided! Location directly looking the ocean and metres from it makes it ideal along with being yards away from Mount Lavinia station. Even the check out experience was superb with Tashani (the Guest Service Manager) listening so well to me and being very attentive to my whole stay and really taking care for me - outstandingly superb service there too from Tashani alongside the breakfast staff who work hard to please! There are so many plus points...but the exotic location and total value for money are the most breathtaking for me ....hence why I returned once again to this near 220 year old hotel that's also an icon for old Ceylon!

Came here for a week and wished we stayed here longer. First of all the hospitality and care the staff gave us including the front desk: Elisha, Tashani and Thiwanka helped us when needed and made sure to give us the utmost support. The structure of the hotel made us interested aswell including the antique dining room and the buffet right outside a beautiful breathtaking view of Colombo and a well kept deep and shallow pool which was enough to satisfy my 14 and 8 year old. not to mention the room we got: a partial sea view with Colombo and the beaches outside our window. The private beach amazing for photos, a quick salty swim and a relax in the sunshine. This hotel was extremely convenient for being right next to the local train station which made travelling a lot easier. Definitely would recommend.

We booked this hotel as it was close to the airport, it is about 45 minutes drive. The hotel itself is lovely, if a little tired in places. However the staff are very friendly and helpful and the choice of food for breakfast was massive. We also ate an evening meal at the hotel and again the choice was plentiful. The swimming pool area was great with staff getting our sunbeds, cushions and towels ready. We only stayed for 2 nights, once on arrival and after a late flight and once before we flew early the next day.

Breakfast buffet was awesome and we had Sri Lankan theme buffet on Sunday night, the food was exceed our expectation. The staff was really friendly and welcoming, specially the front office staff and restaurant staff. The area is safe and convenient, Supermarkets were very close 700m away and lot of restaurants/around in 5km radius.
